Blackjack is played between the player and the dealer. The goal of the game for the player is to end up with a better hand than the dealer to win. The game starts with all the players getting two cards, either face up or face down depending on the variant you’re playing. Also depending on the variant of the game, the dealer is dealt with either one card or two cards with one of them kept face down and hidden. 

The value of cards in Blackjack is pretty simple to understand - the cards from 2 to 10 have a value that is equal to their rank and any face cards like Jack, Queen, and King are considered to carry a value of 10. Aces can be considered to have a value of one or eleven, depending upon the condition of the game. 

Once the initial two cards are dealt to the players, they have the option of “hitting” or drawing more cards to improve their hand. The best value of a hand in Blackjack is 21 and if a player goes beyond that value, he is considered to be “busted” and loses the bet for the round.

Once all the players on the table complete their hands, the dealer checks if any player has a Blackjack or is busted. If the player gets a Blackjack or is busted, the dealer’s hand does not need to be completed. In other cases, the dealer reveals the hidden second card and has to hit until the cards total up to 17 points. If the dealer gets 17 points or higher, he has to stay.

If the value of the player’s hand is higher than the ultimate value of the dealer’s hand then the player wins.
